HOW TO DRAW A SIMPLE CHIKKU KOLAM (5-1 DOTS)

Sikku kolams are popularly known as rangolis with dots which are very diverse in their format and are mostly drawn by the people of South India. Sikku kolam is also known as Neli kolam in Tamil Nadu. In this technique curved lines are used circling the dots on the kolam grid. The main feature of sikku kolam designs is that the starting and the ending point of the kolam design cannot be determined.  The pattern proceeds in a loop pattern.  These types of kolams unlike the other forms of kolam are usually difficult to draw. The designs are usually done using rice powder or colored powder, using the hands. The dot pattern plays an important role in creating this kind of symmetrical design.
